Senior Test and Evaluation Engineer
Plan and lead the ground and flight tests that prove what Vaubren’s systems can and cannot do.
About Vaubren
Vaubren is a European defence technology company developing aircraft, command software, sensing and electronic warfare as one integrated system, with a person in command of every use of force. Our engineering team is based in Bulgaria, inside the European Union and NATO.
The role
You will lead the tests that show what Vaubren’s systems can and cannot do, from component rigs to flight and field campaigns. The hard problem is moving fast with prototypes while keeping every test safe, repeatable and recorded, so that each result can be trusted by engineers and, later, by customers. You will turn requirements into test plans, run campaigns and make sure every finding is acted on.
Why this role
- You set how Vaubren tests, across every programme, while the approach is still being built
- You are where the evidence comes from: results are measured on the range, not claimed
- Hands-on work with aircraft, sensing towers and electronic warfare equipment in the field
What you will do
- Own test campaigns across a programme, from test plan and safety review to execution and report
- Write test plans, procedures and test cards traced to system requirements
- Lead test readiness reviews so that articles, instrumentation, sites and people are ready before anything flies or transmits
- Run bench, environmental, ground and flight tests, with safety as the first priority
- Design instrumentation and data acquisition, and build automated analysis that turns raw data into decisions quickly
- Track every anomaly to root cause and closure with the design engineers
- Build the test rigs and infrastructure the team will rely on as it grows
What you bring
- Typically 6+ years in test and evaluation of complex hardware, ideally aircraft, drones, missiles or robotics
- A record of planning and leading test campaigns, including outdoor or flight testing
- Discipline in procedures, safety and documentation, and the confidence to stop a test
- Scripting in Python or MATLAB for data analysis and test automation
- Hands-on skill with instrumentation such as accelerometers, strain gauges, load cells and data acquisition systems
If you meet most of these points but not all, we still encourage you to apply.
Nice to have
- Flight test engineering or range safety experience
- Environmental testing to standards such as MIL-STD-810 or DO-160
- Electromagnetic compatibility or RF testing
- Knowledge of European drone operating rules and flight authorisations
