Senior Sensor Systems Integration Engineer
Make Headland’s sensors, power, radios and computing work as one system on coasts, borders and critical sites.
About Vaubren
Vaubren is a European defence technology company developing aircraft, command software, sensing and electronic warfare as one integrated system, with a person in command of every use of force. Our engineering team is based in Bulgaria, inside the European Union and NATO.
The role
You will bring together the sensors, radios, power and computing inside Headland, Vaubren’s self-powered sensing tower, and make them work as one system in salt, wind, heat and cold. The hard problem is a tower that runs unattended on its own power, sees what matters and reports clean, timely data to Citadel with no technician nearby. You will own integration from the bench to the field site.
Why this role
- You own the system-level integration of a whole product line
- Hard engineering with real constraints: weather, energy and remote operation
- Your work protects coasts, borders and critical sites across Europe
What you will do
- Own the integration architecture of Headland: sensors, power, communications and edge computing
- Select, characterise and integrate sensing hardware, and define its interfaces to power and software
- Balance the energy budget between sensing, computing and communications for unattended, self-powered operation
- Turn environmental requirements into robust designs, with sealing, thermal management and corrosion in mind
- Plan and run field evaluations at coastal, border and industrial sites, and turn the results into changes
- Work with the Citadel team on data quality, time synchronisation and how detections reach operators
What you bring
- Typically 6+ years integrating sensors and embedded systems in robotics, maritime, security, aerospace or similar fields
- Working depth in at least one sensing domain: radar, electro-optical and infrared cameras, radio frequency or acoustic
- Experience with outdoor or rugged equipment that ran for long periods in the field
- Strong troubleshooting across hardware, networking and software
- Good scripting in Python or similar for test and data analysis
If you meet most of these points but not all, we still encourage you to apply.
Nice to have
- Solar, battery or off-grid power system design
- Counter-drone, coastal or perimeter surveillance sensors
- Environmental testing and ingress protection design
- Sensor fusion or target tracking
